The Interboro Public Library was established through a grass roots community effort. The library found its first home in a former courthouse and fire station in Blakely Borough. The library quickly out grew this small historic municipal building as its service area expanded. The new Interboro Public Library can now share its resources with five neighboring municipalities more effectively. The 12,500 sq. ft. facility is four times larger than its original location.

The design process included coordination with fund raising efforts and value engineering exercises to ensure alignment between the project budget and construction costs. The Palumbo Group was able to work with the library, funding committee and the contractors to bid and schedule construction on time and within budget.

The site of the new library reclaimed a dilapidated commercial site nestled within the heart of a residential neighborhood and adjacent to a public park and recreation center. The end product will fit within the residential context and be a hybrid of traditional building materials, contemporary design and state-of-the-art technology.
