COUNTY OF LACKAWANNA TRANSIT SYSTEM

This project consists of a new intermodal transportation facility for County of Lackawanna Transit System (COLTS), new commuter parking lot and a new Martz parking lot.

The facility scope includes a new intermodal building with waiting area, ticket office, restrooms, an office and break room for both COLTS and Martz, and a training room. The site scope includes redevelopment of existing parking lots and surrounding area for parking, bus berths, and improved safety for pedestrians. Customers will arrive to the facility by bus, car (parking and drop off), bike, or by foot. The Design Team has used the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) as a standard for sustainable design throughout all aspects of this project.

The building roof will extend beyond the facility to become a canopy that will provide protection from the elements for patrons boarding and disembarking the buses. The facility roof also cantilevers on all sides of the building. The cantilever roof will provide interior shading and will also serve as protection from the elements for the sidewalk that wraps the facility. A portion of the waiting room extends above the facility roof. The majority of the roofing material will be an extensive green roof system.
