St. Luke's Church
Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, located in downtown Scranton, PA, is a historically significant building that was constructed in 1898. The church was originally design by renowned architect Richard Upjohn who specialized in Gothic Architecture. Although church elders meticulously maintain the church, age and structural problems rendered it in dire need of repair and restoration.
This project involved a complete replacement and replication of the existing slate roof, which contained subtle patterns and colors that add to the architectural character of the church. Modifications to the failing foundation piers and repair to the ornate wooden Gothic arches were also included in the restoration. Extreme care and attention to detail was a major focal point for this project in order to duplicate the original design and craftsmanship. The structural integrity was restored, and the ornate Gothic arches preserved.
