LACKAWANNA COUNTY HEALTHCARE CENTER | ALZHEIMER’S WING

Located in Blakely, PA the project involved a 68-bed addition on a steeply sloped, restrictive site. The design priority involved providing a secure facility for cognitively impaired residents within accommodations that encourage independence, movement, and social access. An ‘L’ shaped addition created a large courtyard between existing and new construction. Locating the nurse's station at the intersection of the two corridors facilitates supervision and assistance to residents.
